Connecting the BIS Community

Asia day

Written by Aiden and Poyraz

Bishkek International School came to life in shades of color, music, and smells as the community celebrated the annual Asia Day Festival. The festival transformed the school yard into a colorful showcase of Asian life, as parents, students, and staff presented the continent’s rich heritage in food, art, music, and performances.

From the refined brushwork of early calligraphy to vibrant dances and melodies, each stall featured a unique side of Asia’s extensive cultural legacy. Perfumes from throughout the continent dominated the air as national dress and homemade ornaments created an ambiance of excitement. Travelers roamed, found and made friends through participative activities that made cross-cultural interaction enjoyable as well as meaningful.

This celebration of Asian culture is a reflection of BIS’s core values of respect, diversity, and global citizenship. It reminded us all of the power of unity when people from different backgrounds come together to share their stories and traditions.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the staff, parents, and students whose hard work and passion have brought this event to fruition. Celebrating cultures on Asia Day, we bridged gaps that bring our community closer together.
